Description
Folk Songs & Outlaw Poems of New Alexandria was published in 1901 by Carrington Press & Printing Co., of Saint Denis. The anthology attempts to paint an image of life in New Alexandria at the time, documenting some of the major groups in the state at the time, and ranging in content from comedic to somber. The anthology was initially sold for $20, though later sales runs were marked down in price. Copies signed by the editor, Iver Carrington, were also sold.
History
Folk Songs documents a variety of historic events of importance to New Alexandria, such as the heyday of the Guppie Gang, or Fish, to the rise of The Firing Line, to the fierce Battle of Fort Mercer.
Rumor(s)
It is said that some booksellers in the state may still have copies for sale. Copies were also donated to the Dakota Lending Library, though their provenance is unknown at this time.
