    Description

Standing 5’10” and slender with sunny blonde hair and greyish blue inviting eyes Paula appears easily approachable. In summer months her hair would turn more rosy and freckles in her face become more visible. A few grey hairs are visible amidst the locks. A beauty mark just underneath her lip makes her face unique and recognisable.

Paula is a well established, smart, independent woman. Respectful and generous, perceptive, steadfast and decisive she believes in the need for prevalence of greater good, equity and justice. She’s more of a listener than a talker and will often catch onto things others don’t. People that get the chance to know her would however discover she's rather easy going and dynamic but that she can be a little restless and lacking of tact. It's no wonder coming from a family with four brothers and a very present, dominant father. As down to earth she’s got no patience with laziness, self-pity and hypocrisy, an intense horror of superstition and divination, and she scoffs openly at the serious practice of the sort.

Her apparel is usually time-appropriate and at least half decent choosing browns, blacks and greys over any flashy colour. Yes, she dares to wear britches. And lace-up boots. She is quick and light on her feet and often stands one foot resting on the nose of her boot. She has got an easygoing lope. You could say it mirrors her take on life. Nice and steady... fast enough to get somewhere, but not too fast to miss anything.

    Early Life

    Loveland, Larimer County, Colorado
Paula was born a stone's throw away from Loveland City, a city that per 1877 was the second most populated municipality of Colorado. The homestead stood just outside Fort Namaqua which was a stage station by the foothills along the trail from Cheyenne to Denver. The family’s main business were winter wheats and late summer alfalfa. Paula and her four brothers would work the fields from a young age after school.

The northern skyline of Loveland is known as the "Front Range" of the Rocky Mountains. She considers the most prominent peaks Longs and Meeker as typical memories of home and will occasionally avidly tell stories about her home region. Coming of age and venturing further away from the home Paula would soon aim to discover the region. During her younger adult years she'd go out seeking many trails up and down the range on horseback, and later venture out further riding the trains through the Rockies. The neighbouring ranches and homesteads were mainly focused on crop farming too and didn’t pose much of an interest to her, however further down the trail and at the railheads she’d find clusters of ranches and markets. She and her brother would there take on seasonal jobs in homestead, livestock and transport security.

Since the area around Loveland thrived on both agriculture and gold mining, she was witness to growth and prosperity within the region from up close, and her family fared well to it. She was witness to the realisation of the Colorado Central Railroad and Moguls passing by their lands. Unfortunately, with growth came crime. Having to have dealt with the occasional robber and rustler her oldest brother Barnett developed an aspiration for and manages to become a deputy sheriff in Kansas. Two more brothers, Jacob and Sidney, end up in (local) law enforcement as well. For a while Hudson and Paula aid their parents keeping up their own homestead alongside their odd jobs, but soon Paula will leave home indefinitely in search for a life of her own.

    Present Life

    A home in New Alexandria

    IMG-5741.png

When Paula turns 21 she meets one of her brothers colleagues who would later become her husband: Elfego Hierro. Born december 26th 1864, Elfego was a trapper first - marshal second - originating from Taos County, New Mexico Territory. At an early age he moved to Kansas with his family only to return later as a marshal to Taos and then Loveland. There they meet and the couple move to New Alexandria a few years later (1896). During their time together occupying a cabin in the foothills of the Grizzlies, Elfego teaches her a fair amount of skills. She picked up hunting and trapping, becomes a fairly decent wildlife tracker and possesses a thorough knowledge of the NA terrain.

In total Paula has been a citizen of New Alexandria for over six years now and has been witness to most known gang’s comings and goings from a distance. However she was never very visible in towns and never got involved, Elfego would share his dealings with her and therefor she’s is knowledgeable of most past- and present events. Paula spoke proud of her husband and supports him fully, never questioning his choice of occupation. She remembers him dearly. Unfortunately, four years after settling disaster strikes. Elfego loses his life on duty in november ‘99, leaving Paula widowed. To this day Paula is careful sharing her story and her ties to marshal Hierro and will respond indifferent to anyone asking about him. It's a risk. The outlaws that had it out for him might still be around and resurface, and are the reason Paula decides to take a more active approach to life, acquiring a bounty hunter license and being out on the trails as often as she is these days.

During her months in state she discovers an old friend named Arlo Cooper has found his way to NA as well, a man raised by her brother Barnett, sharing stories of home. They are a lovely bunch of memories but also a final push for Paula to take a step further into moving on and filing for a change back to her maiden name Turner. Selling the trappers cabin to whoever bids the highest she has now moved herself into a smaller more suitable home out West.

For a short while she was employed by The ICE Company for predator control but the company falters soon after. She'll eventually find herself supporting local ranches yet again and occasionally takes on railway security detail at Frontier Railway Co.
