A mix of in character and out of character backstory of how we arrived to the present lore-wise;
In the early days we decided to combine all of the RDR2 'States' into Counties, and appoint a State Marshal and his deputies to establish overall Lawmen procedures across the map. The overall long term goal was to appoint Sheriffs to more focused jurisdictions once folks spread across the map, and have Marshals be support and 'Supervisors' to the Sheriffs and their deputies.
We are still evolving on that front.
Afterwards; We held a community vote on State name submissions, and New Alexandria was the winner.
New Austin is considered 'Lawless' as law is not actively enforced, however the rest of the 'Counties' are incorporated and subject to the jurisdiction and laws of the State.
Hope that sums everything up to this point, and look forward to more announcements.
