What happens if my character gets sick?
If you want your character to follow along with the symptoms shown already then you can, however you could just as easily have your character be asymptomatic, showing absolutely no signs of the disease at all. No one can, and no one will, force you into roleplay that you're not comfortable taking part in. All we ask is that you respect the roleplay of others around you, as you always do.

If I get sick do I have to permanently kill my character?
Absolutely not. If you decide to go along with the sickness, and have your character get sick, you can have it be as severe as you want it to be. You could have a cough, could be throwing up, or once again could be completely asymptomatic.

Why is Valentine being abandoned?
Valentine is the main location that the infected characters have been found so far, and has become the main source of infection for others. Law enforcement have been tasked with rounding up the infected where possible an taking them to a quarantine site away from town, however this isn't always an easy task. No one has, in any official capacity (government, or law enforcement), actually ordered the town to close. The hotel being closed at the moment is simply due to the nature of the disease being contagious, and the hotel having sheltered a lot of folk who could have been infected. Any notes and notices that have been in or around the town have happened purely through the roleplayed reactions to this disease.

How does this get resolved? When do things go back to normal?
Nothing within roleplay is permanent. Just a few months back we had a Cholera outbreak in New Austin which caused many folk to stay away from places like Armadillo and Tumbleweed. That outbreak was fought and eventually brought under control by various medical expeditions into the infected areas; but this takes time, and was something that occurred through roleplay. This particular outbreak isn't going to be resolved overnight, but we do have a lot more active medical characters these days than we did during the Cholelra outbreak, and they're already working very hard to see what they can do, to reasearch this disease, and get you all back to your Valentine bourbon - which is quite frankly the best bourbon in the State.

Do I have to engage with this roleplay?
You aren't expected to fully engage with this roleplay should you not wish to. This can be achieved by having your character be immune to the disease completely, or by avoiding those that your character believes to be sick. We do ask that you respect the roleplay as it is carried out by everyone else on the server, and don't simply discredit the roleplay as you're not actively a part of it - including avoiding active hotspots for the disease.
