Description 

A self-proclaimed vixen and loose cannon, Elena Chastain is a bit of a menace. She possesses a complete disregard for the law save for their place as her “challenge” and generally has the same level of care for society at large. Society is stifling, but certain aspects of it please her to use, circumvent, or destroy, so she tolerates it.

Elena has a pale complexion, auburn hair typically worn in a bun, and dark brown eyes. Her features are soft, full, but structured, with high cheekbones and a sharp jaw. In terms of identifying marks, she has a deep scar on her right cheek and two visible moles on her face: one just below her left inner brow, and one above the left side of her mouth. She typically wears red, black, and blue, with an emphasis on the former. She quite likes to show skin, particularly her chest and muscular arms, and enjoys both dresses and denims equally. Elena is also never seen without her lips rouged.

She quickly found her place in the world after fleeing her childhood home – brazen seduction and gleeful violence with the Saints. She doesn’t enjoy torture, of course. One catches more flies with honey than vinegar, after all…but there’s nothing quite like the thrill of going toe to toe with someone who can meet or beat her, of getting away with her prize, of getting caught after fighting for her freedom. Sure, this group she’s found have their Code, their honour. She’s more than happy to play along with this specific set of rules. Why shouldn’t she? They’re rules that allow her to get exactly what she wants.

Early Life 

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Elena was the middle child and youngest daughter of a well-off family. Her father worked with the railyards, her mother acted the part of a proper lady on the lower rungs of high society, and her siblings were dutiful, polite, and knew their place. Elena was chaos incarnate from a young age, seemingly driven by thrill, spite, or just curiosity – could she do that? She could! There was much scolding, so much noise! It broke up the monotony beautifully.

Her only real joy was equestrianism. The discipline required of both horse and rider, as well as the varied options within the sport, all kept her busy and allowed her to feel a sense of both mastery and companionship. She became the Chastain child most occupied with spending the day out of doors, gleefully riding about, training, and even getting into the stables for the dirtier work she shouldn’t have been permitted to do, but did anyway. A stablemaster by the name of Paul Helston was a major figure during these years – he encouraged her to work with her hands, seeing how the act of physical labour centered the otherwise reckless and flighty young Elena.

No one was surprised when Elena made an uproar on her wedding day, evading her determined chaperone and fleeing Atlanta before her wedding to a man her father hoped would tame her worst impulses. She was written off as a lost cause, a wild child, and though efforts were, of course, made to try and find her…it quickly became apparent that she’d met like-minded folks. Said like-minded folk were only to happy to help her evade her pursuers.

Present Life 

At some point, Elena joined up with Emilio St. Augustine…and his Saints. She doesn’t quite believe in his Code, nor his ideals, but she appreciates his zest for life, conviction, and good humour, and thus considers him a close friend. She and Emilio were among the first to arrive in New Alexandria after having fled their last locale, but both are eager to start anew. There’s nothing more thrilling than the story of going from nothing to something, after all!

She’s more than willing to follow Emilio and his orders as long as he meets her needs. She and the Saints are currently wreaking havoc on New Alexandria.

Trivia 

When she isn’t running with the Saints, Elena quite enjoys working with horses. She’s a skilled rider and quite competent in horse care.

Elena’s middle name is Verity.

Her favourite flower is the rose, specifically the red bourbon rose.

Elena prefers close quarters combat over gunfights but will participate willingly in both. If given the option to ask for a fistfight or a knife fight, she will do so.

Elena prefers deputies over bounty hunters by a wide margin. She’ll flirt with, tease, and otherwise extend encounters with the former, with far more merciful responses should she win. With bounty hunters, she’ll typically leave them where they lay instead of attempting to aid them in any way.

Elena’s hairpiece is her “something blue” from her not-wedding. It has a small blue topaz set into the golden plate that makes up the piece itself. She herself isn’t entirely sure why she’s kept it, but if asked, will state that it’s pretty, why not?

Elena’s attitude towards authority shifts depending on how recently she’s had an “exciting” time. Any action, regardless of whether it ends with a win or a loss, calms her to the point of easy, amiable obedience – this is most notable with Emilio, but deputies and prison guards can also see this in action.
