Summary
History
The Governor's Award was created by Governor Addison Flanagan in Executive Order 10, February 15th 1900. Recipients:
Undersheriff James Hollister - March 7th 1900
The first recipient of this award, James Hollister was granted both the Governor's Award and the rank of Undersheriff posthumously at his funeral service. Hollister received this honor for his months of dutiful service, unblemished record, and his dedication and efforts in maintaining respectful and peaceful relations with the Comanche. Many of the brightest members of the Sheriff's department learned from Hollister's shining example.
Dr. Jaena Shaw was the second recipient of this prestigious award on 4-24-1900, the eve of her inauguration as New Alexandria's 3rd Governor. Given by her predecessor, Governor Addison Flanagan, Dr. Shaw was awarded for her outstanding contributions to New Alexandria's medical needs. Dr. Shaw has dedicated her life to helping others in their most vulnerable times, personally having tended to hundreds of patients. Her efforts in founding and maintaining the non-profit, Mountain Medical, have seen that citizens all across the state can get the care they need at no expense.
