Description
A rough man, tall in stature and stands tall before any man or woman before them. Had many scars covering his face and back and has a mean face but is the most kind hearted man there can be from the Godfrey Family. He has a grandeur idea of loyalty and hates betrayal at it truest form, cross him and find your life fading away at his hands. His words are precise, his actions even more so, expertly dangerous overall.
Early Life
Michael Godfrey was the son of two young individuals named John and Grace Godfrey, he was raised in Chicago, Illinois where people worked their fingers to the bone to raise their kids in the healthiest way they possibly could. The Godfrey family belonged to the mines where they would live, love, and raise their children which often became difficult. A job so grueling and harsh on the body with most of the time little benefit. Michaels father was the man that could do it all, but had his certain interests that he narrowed himself down to. His main love and hobby was blacksmithing. He enjoyed creating objects out of minerals he found down in the mines and wouldn’t tell anyone about. The reason this love became so passionate to him was that his father who taught him from an early age everything he needed to know, gave him the skills to craft. Michael and his brother Brooks were once given these gold and silver belt buckles that their father made himself out of the mines they worked at. The two boys cherished this gift as they never received much in their lifetime. Just as things seemed to be good, the boys grew older and world problems became less unavoidable, the coal company began to become greedy and the problems began.
The Illinois mine wars began to arise and strikes were set out against the mine companies. The people and the families continued to be sick and tired of the treatment they were getting. One of the families happened to be Grace and John Godfrey who stood in the front lines of the riots and protests fighting for their rights. In 1898, A coal strike broke out in Virden after the Chicago-Virden Coal Company refused to pay their miners' union-scale wages. The strike ended with six security guards and seven miners killed, and over 30 others were injured. Grace and John Godfrey died that night, making their sacrifice a reality. The company finally granted the wage increase a month after the strike. The strike in Virden is also credited with the winning of the 8-hour workday for hourly mine workers, and a memorial in the town square commemorates the battle. This was not enough for the mourning brothers of Brooks and Michael. Brooks wanted revenge and he wanted it bad, he stayed away for weeks not knowing what he should do. Michael ventures out one day to be lost out in Chicago and comes across an abandoned camp that he stays at hiding away after being chased down by pinkertons. There he met a man, a man named Rick Goodwin, the man was passing by, and Rick asked if he needed help. Michael said no knowing he may be after his money. Rick said he would help as he is going through the same troubles as Michael. They talked for a few weeks and finally started to do a few jobs together and what not. With the money that he made, he went off to find Brooks again and reunite with him. He said his goodbyes to Rick with a letter he left at camp and 2 months later he found Brooks. They reunited, and a week later Michael noticed Brooks was gone that night and not home at his usual time. Without telling him of what happened, he looks at Michael and said we got to leave now. They left without looking back, going from state to state robbing with a mission, taking from the rich and Government to give back to the poor. Now they stay in New Alexandria, we'll see where The Godfreys story ends...
