History
The original Victory Gang was founded by elder gang members of the
Sinners Gang in the summer of 1900. The Sinners were a group of street urchins that were particularly active around
Victoria Street Station and the neighbouring alley ways from as early as 1884.
The majority of the gangs members were poor, homeless children as young as age six and as old as sixteen for whom the street had become home. Like many street children, they formed a gang and engaged in petty theft. The name
"Sinner" derives from the opposite of the English word
"Saint" which shares the same spelling as in the name
"Saint Denis"
Though the Sinners Gang seized to have any real existence by late 1899, The Victory Gang will commonly refer to young would-be criminals as
"Sinners."
The Victory Street Gang has been known to frequent the
Saint Denis Market, it's members will typically sell and trade goods such as
jewellery in exchange for
alcohol, cigarettes and
canned provisions. The market is a common place to find the gangs painted tags.
