Description
"As his people speak of him, one would expect a surly behemoth with a boulder-like physique and a mean brow, decorated in the skins of his conquered enemies. It was to my surprise to encounter an elegant young man in a fine red shirt of good tailoring and material, which contrasted sharply with rough leather leggings, and the traditional bangles and ornaments of a desert brave." - Hank Harold's description of Mahikuhtsu
Early Life
Very few people outside of his warband know the details of Mahikuhtsu's formative years. It is known that he was born in the sacred Black Hills of the Lakota, once called Tȟatȟáŋka Ptéčela or Little Bull, and that he spent many years wandering before finally settling down in New Alexandria around the year 1899. Originally forming a group of tribeless Natives around him that he then considered his family, they grew very close with the local Wapiti and Arikoan tribes, even fighting beside the Wapiti in a war against the Mahikoʔitʉ Nʉʉ and their Apache allies.
However after some internal strife within the Mahikoʔitʉ Nʉʉ, then Chief Puhwohho and WarChief Wahauwíhi̠ parted ways, causing the band to split. After this there was great effort made by Wahauwíhi̠ and those loyal to him to reconcile the past with Mahikuhtsu and his family, which eventually lead them to joining this newly formed band and embracing Comanche culture. Wahauwíhi̠ was voted as chief of the now Nabipʉheetʉ Nʉʉ, and chose Mahikuhtsu to be part of his council, a great honor for him. It was with this band that he earned his Comanche name Mahikuhtsu, shedding his former identity and being reborn as a man of the Comanche Nation.
Present Life
After the dissolution of the Nabipʉheetʉ Nʉʉ, many of the Nʉmʉnʉʉ traveled far distances for greener pastures. A few, Mahikuhtsu included, decided to roam the Great Plains to protect the Singing Tree and the few Bison that still remained. After some time a call was sent out, and many of the Nabipʉheetʉ Nʉʉ returned to form a new band, ensuring their people and culture did not die out.
At their camp deep in Tall Trees a vote was held between all the Comanche who still resided in the state, with a few outsiders who were trusted and considered friends to bear witness. They chose Mahikuhtsu as their leader, making him the chief of this new warband. They called themselves the Nabihubiya Nʉʉ, or The War Song People, a name chosen because of the songs they sing in ceremony as they prepare themselves to face their enemies, and the shrill war cries that are always heard when they ride into battle.
