Howdy, all! On this page you'll find a collection of "clarifications," which are precedents on the rules that have gone into effect through staff messages, the verdicts of player reports, or as overall changes to the community. This list covers in-depth explanations behind some of the more specific rules in WWRP. If you have any questions or concerns regarding what's written here, please open a #support ticket on Discord.
Rule 1 - Remain In-Character
1. While incapacitated it is important to be mindful of the fact that your character is injured/incapacitated, and will have limitations in communication due to the pain they are experiencing. Your character is in pain and is unable to move. Calling out positions of enemies or speaking as if they are unimpacted is unacceptable.
2. The /ooc command is for consent & briefly informing others of technical issues only. It is not used for extensive OOC conversations, and players should still be wary of metagame. Players should only be going out of character when off the server. If a player requires more assistance beyond what can be conveyed with /ooc, feel free to ask for a Discord I.D. to DM them about your issue further.
The /mu command requires Staff permission to use. This command is specifically for those unable to speak in real life (or are otherwise mute). If you are found to be using this command without approval, you will receive harsh punishment.
The /me command is to express your character's visible actions such as winking or reaching for something.
These commands should be used properly at all times regardless of the circumstance.
You can review further guidelines for the use of /me and /ooc here. All players are expected to abide by these guidelines. For situations where you are experiencing technical issues in-game, more often than not there is always an in-character approach to conveying this. One example of such a scenario is having sound issues, and then using a /me to "point to your character's ears."
Please open a #support ticket on Discord if you need help coming up with ways to convey issues like this without breaching the /me or /ooc command guidelines.
3. You are required to have your TeamSpeak set to push-to-talk while on-server.
- Your mic cannot be disabled while in game, but muting is acceptable unless using it to avoid roleplay.
- Your speakers cannot be muted/disabled while in game.
Voice activation or continuous transmission is only permitted for in-character performances like singing or playing an instrument. You must switch back to push-to-talk after performing.
4. You may be punished if you are not taking roleplay serious or are acting as if you were on Red Dead Online. High-quality roleplay is what sets us apart, and we are intent on keeping it that way. You can find more information on "RDO behavior" here.5. At no point in any location on server is it appropriate to break character and engage in OOC chatter.
This includes the Map Room.
- What the map room is and what it is for: A temporary half-way location for when coordinates fail or bugs happen that make it impossible for RedM to place you at the location you last logged in at. Its map has various quick travel destinations to aid individual in returning to where they were previously.
- What the map room is not: A place for socialization, especially not of the OOC kind.
- Which locations are for OOC speak: The designated Teamspeak and Discord voice channels which are not Server Channels (Main or Event).
The Map Room should never be used as an OOC space as it can risk confusion, bad habits being formed (folks thinking it's alright to speak OOC when in certain areas away from others, which it is not), and can be jarring for someone if their TS bugs and lets them hear more than those nearest to them.
(A bug less common these days but it can still occur)
It should essentially be treated as a IC transport station that is about to shut down, where all characters are in a hurry to get their tickets and get to where they need to be, or a hazed dream state before they wake up at their location.
It is also considered a safe zone where no crimes are to be committed.
If someone seems confused by the location, your character may direct them to the map in an immersive and in-character way
(Ex: "Point on that map so the fella knows where to take ya") and then proceed on your day.
Once back to where your character belongs, others around should be understanding of the situation, and you can move on easily from the interruption with knowledge that bugs unfortunately will happen and its best not to dwell on it.
