Description 

Michael John Chapman is a lowly-miner-turned-outlaw. He came to New Alexandria to win the favour of his lovers father by earning his fortune, though his knack for finding trouble has lead him astray.

Early Life 

Michael was born to James and Joann Chapman in Bristol, England in 1874. The Chapmans lived in The Hotwells beside the River Avon in a twelve by twelve feet apartment. Michael is the second youngest of four siblings, Nicholas, Rachael and Benjamin Chapman.

The boys of the family were rooted particularly in mining, however life underground did not agree with Michael and he became a well-known troublemaker by his adolescence.

At aged nineteen, Michael met Elizabeth Brooks, who intervened on his behalf during an altercation outside The Victoria Tavern in Clifton. Michael immediately fell in love with Elizabeth and asked her to meet him again sometime, but she refused as her father would not allow such a breach of social etiquette, having already promised her to Henry Wills, the son of a prominent tobacco giant.

Despite their differences in social status, Michael continued to pursue his love for Elizabeth. They eventually entered into a relationship, which they were able to keep a secret for several months before her father learned of their affair.

Present Life 

Chapman is a calculating individual and born opportunist. A man with a violent past, Chapman is one of the few surviving members of the Levy-Williams Gang. Having served time for his crimes, Chapman is a free man and has sequestered himself from his former life.
