Hello everyone,
This post is going to be going over a slew of information regarding our not so wonderful island prison of Sisika Penitentiary. It will be going over the island’s security, how visitation works, and how Sisika relates to you, the player, and your characters.
What to Expect in Sisika?
Your character is an inmate, indentured to the state to work away their time and to rehabilitate before being allowed to re-enter society. Your character is expected to work, and to obey the orders of the Watchmen. Each day is hard, the food is passable, but the labor is day in, day out, hard labor and work that is very taxing on the body, especially without the proper nutrition to match. Your character is paid for the manual labor that they do, whether it's in the wheat fields, corn fields, apple orchard, or doing chores at the Red Barn. Your character can collect their wages from the front desk at the big housing building. Your character can do this work even when there's no on duty guards, they can always get to the work areas via the side gate.
The Watchmen will engage you and your character, talk about their choices, their crimes, in addition to ordering them to work around the prison, build skills, and do their best to get your character to try and change their life. Some Guards may be soft handed, others may be heavy handed, but every interaction will be dynamic and allow further extension for your story and expression of your character.
Your character may be expected to exhibit manners, or to do hard tasks, and may be punished for not complying, giving attitude, or rebelling back against the Watchmen. This is a system designed to break your character down to their worst, to try and shape them to their best. How your character responds, is completely up to you the player.
Sisika Security
Sisika is a 24/7/365 secure facility. There are plenty of guards actively patrolling the island. This means that you should not be boating to the island because “no guards are around.” In addition to the actively patrolling guards there is a Warden and several of their employees also actively protecting the island, the prisoners within, and the prisoners on their way to the island.
Generally speaking, if you do not have approval to be on Sisika, you should not be there. Whether it is In-character permission via on duty DOP. Permission given by DOPC, or permission given by the Admin+ Team.
Going to the island without some form of approval from DOP IC, or from Admin+ OOC, will result in warning points, bans, or other OOC Punishment.
Sisika Guards are trained in a militaristic manner. This means they aren’t likely to play fun and games. They will protect their space, and their charge with their lives. This means that they will use whatever means necessary to gain control of a situation, or to remove a threat that is barring their path. Their sole charge is to protect the island, and the inmates within it from all threats. Even when transporting inmates to the Prison, their objective is to ensure that individual reaches their sentence, through whatever means necessary, and have the flexibility and tools in order to do so.
Prison Sentences
Inmates must serve their prison sentence before being able to go back to society. Prison sentences have a few forms, but are primarily served in MONTHS, which translates to minutes of IRL time. So 60 Months = 1 Hour.
Sisika Times pass by whether you are online, or offline, however, whenever you are offline, the time ticks away at a ratio of 1:4, meaning that every 4 minutes offline is considered 1 minute served. You can gauge how long your sentence will be with the following information:
Online Time:
1 Month = 1 Minute
60 Months = 60 Minutes/1 Hr
1440 Months = 24 Hours/1 Day
Offline Time:
1 Month = 4 Minutes
60 Months = 240 Minutes / 4 Hours
360 Months = 1440 Months / 1 Day
An equation you can do in order to gauge how much time your sentence will take to serve offline is:
TIME * 4, divided by 1440.
For example, if you are serving 2000 Months, it would be:
2000*4 = 8000, divided by 1440 is about 5.5, so this would take about 5 and a half days for this sentence to be served completely offline. Once your time is complete, you can approach the Brickman, who is between the gallows and the main building, to be sent back to the mainland.
However, you are welcome to stay longer than your sentence if you wish to engage in more Prison RP
Sisika Visitation
Visitation is much easier now that we have a fully functioning Department of Prisons. If your character's friend or family member is in prison, all you need to do in order to get visitation is send a telegram to the DOP Office and wait for a DOP member to respond. It is your responsibility to ensure the inmate you want to visit is “awake” for your visitation.
The alternative way to schedule visitation is Visitation in Advance, in which you write a letter to the current Warden and Assistant Wardens, with the following information:
Common Visitation Reasons:
The Current DOPC Cadre is:
- Warden Petra Blackheart (@Petra Blackheart)
Prison Breaks and You
Prison breaks can be an incredibly fun way to help tell a dangerous outlaw’s story, especially if it seems their career is beginning to sunset. A prison break, by definition, is exactly what it sounds like: roleplay of an attempted breakout for a character incarcerated in Sisika itself. These prison breaks are meant to be incredibly rare, and reward people who take advanced consequences for their characters through roleplay. Check with the Staff Team via a Support Ticket if you believe a prison break is right for you. The Staff Team, along with DOPC (for the sake of accommodations), will work with you to see if you qualify and help you set it up.
You only need a prison break ticket if you are going to be breaking the individual off of the island of Sisika itself.
