Introduction
Hello! Welcome to our first ever Wild West Roleplay Community Newsletter! This will be the first of our quarterly newsletter updates to keep you informed to recent changes, upcoming changes, as well as general information regarding the community of WWRP. These Newsletters will be taking the place of our Community Meetings. The reason for this, is the community newsletter is more realistic for us to maintain on a consistent basis, and we owe you, our players, a consistent means of communication to talk about things and keep you informed and help maintain better transparency with our plans moving forward. These articles will also grant you an opportunity to ask the team questions, some of which will be answered in the following Newsletter. However, we will still be looking to host one community meeting a year, our current target is for the midpoint of the year, so around June, between Q2 and Q3. This community meeting will be tailored towards more of an AMA (Ask me anything) Style meeting, where we'll spend a large portion of time answering your burning questions as well as sharing any news we may have!
Player Government
In regards to the Player Government Roles, We would like to provide some updates on what is happening with it. We apologize that it has taken this long to get updates. This rework was not meant to take this long, however, unpredictable real life situations developed and we needed to place it on temporary hold.We have reopened discussions and are starting to work on re-implementing the player government in a way that is fun, engaging, and meaningful for all players. There will be more updates on this topic in our next newsletter.
Updates from the Staff Team
We recently made some significant updates and changes to our thread on the Abuse of Game Mechanics. These changes are designed to better communicate what AGM is, how it is defined and provide some extra and more helpful examples. Please welcome and congratulate our newest members of the Staff Team, Silas Ward, Lottie Leone, and Henriette Fjellhol! They are very eager and excited to help us manage tickets, as well as help welcome new faces and stories into our world as apart of the whitelisting process!
Petra Blackheart has joined the Community Lead Team. They are very excited to start more community engagement opportunities, reignite communication with the player base, and assist in more transparency.
Caleb Hallcock has joined the Management Team. They remain steadfast in their commitment to the development team, but are very excited to assist those in Management with a focus on transparency and communication.
A Word from Formulation
Hey everyone! I just wanted to explain my absence from WWRP over the past couple of months. On New Year’s Eve I was hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis. I’ve been in hospitals since, receiving treatment, and focusing on recovery. It was completely unexpected and has been a difficult process, but I’m doing my best to heal and get stronger. I really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while I’ve been away. But I've had you in my thoughts.Applications for the WWRP Media Team
Did you also know that we are always looking for talented volunteer media team members? If you'd like to apply your video making and editing skills to making fun content for Wild West Roleplay's social media channels, feel free to open a ticket and ask to apply to the media team! Have some of your work on standby for examples!New Soft Whitelist Role Available: Sisika Lifer!
We will be opening up a new form of soft whitelist application for Prison Lifers. These characters will be serving life sentence in prison from the get go, and will be a permanent addition to the Sisika population. These characters are a wonderful addition to the prison population and can help facilitate so much roleplay between the DOP and the other inmates in population. You may apply to be a prison lifer by opening a ticket and requesting to do so, we will get you the application to fill out! A few things to be thinking about as you participate in this undertaking:Character Name and Backstory
What Charges got them there
This character will be permanently imprisoned. They will not be permitted to escape. Even if presented an opportunity. We look forward to seeing what characters you come up with to join the prison environment, to provide roleplay not only to your fellow prisoners, but to the Watchmen of the DOP as well!
Development!
Wild West Roleplay is lucky to have a small (but mighty) team of talented developers and 3d modelers who are able to expand the experience of players through new features, bug fixes and map updates.
This past year has been one of the biggest in terms of development that Wild West Roleplay has ever seen. In fact, there were almost as many code commits in 2025 alone as there was across both 2023 and 2024 combined. We even had to change the way we post our changelogs, because we kept hitting the character limit with the old format. That's a good problem to have.
A Year in Review
Rather than rattle off a bunch of bullet points (feel free to check out our change logs for that), we wanted to talk a bit about what this year actually felt like from the development side.A lot of our focus has been on reworking systems that had been sitting in "it works... technically" territory. For many years we have had scripts that have fit this category.- Deliveries; which were easily broken, and not very satisfying to complete.
- Scenes; which worked but were tedious and time consuming to set up and maintain.
- Livestock, which would suffer from being developed when RedM was in it's infancy.
Alongside improving these scripts, we also added some brand new ones to give players new capabilities to their roleplay. The brand new Criminal Tasks system was a major milestone - giving structured, mechanical opportunities without replacing organic crime RP by creating hooks and opportunities that felt realistic and grounded. Another was adding ways for ranchers and distillers to mechanically offload excess product, with the arrival of Dairy and Distillery Export contracts.
A lot of work also went into immersion and world-building. New locations and camps, lootable trash cans, ambient sound effects, an in-game book and library system, the ability to craft cheese and butter... none of these scream "massive update" individually, but together they make the world feel more realistic and lived in.
We spent a significant amount of time addressing some long-standing issues. The attachments system had been broken for far too long? Finally sorted. Bow ammunition bugs? Addressed. Behind the scenes optimizations that most players will never see, but will absolutely feel in performance and consistency? Handled. Some updates were large - like our Colter Revamp, the New Austin and Heartlands Market, the Hanging Dog cleanup...And others were simply symbolic. Carrots and wild carrots are now equal in pre-farming update recipes. Justice has been served.
And of course... Hank.
WWRP Loading Screens!
Howdy there partner, Recently we have gotten some fancy custom WWRP Loading Screens. With those screens we are pulling screenshots from the bi-weekly photo submissions to compile our loading screens. We would like to hear feedback, and ideas from you! Be it ideas, questions, concerns, or you would like to assist with the creation of loading screens... Please fill out this Form! Thanks!
What's to Come
We've got some really exciting things to drop in the coming weeks.Traveling Pop-Up Markets: A new set of traveling NPC merchants will begin setting up rotating pop-up markets around New Alexandria. Different locations every restart, with randomized stock. Sometimes rare items, sometimes common items. You won't always know what you'll find - or where you'll find it.
Soup Kitchens: There will be a 40% chance each restart that one of the New Alexandrian churches opens a soup kitchen. One free bowl of whatever soup is on the hotplate per player.
Functional Hunting Wagons: Hunting Wagons will soon allow for the storage and transport of up to 15 pelts and carcasses instead of just being flashy for show, and the rental price has been halved to $5. We know the community has long wanted to see a functional hunting wagon, and we're excited to give you access to them.
Looking Ahead
We have bigger goals for the year to come after these impending releases, but we're not going to touch too much on them in this newsletter - but stay tuned for Q2 and Q3's newsletter for more information. What we can say, however, is that our direction remains the same:- Build systems that encourage roleplay rather than replace it.
- Expand the world in ways that feel organic
- Prioritize long-term stability and maintainability.
- Keep listening, refining and improving.
How You Can Help
We are always looking for volunteer talent for our Development team. You can find fill out an application here. Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (namely LUA) is a foundation requirement for this role, in addition to being able to work in a team environment. As a player, you can submit and contribute to bug reports - giving as much detail as to the issue and how to replicate it as possible. "X is broken" is hard to work with. "Here's how to break X consistently" is gold. Players can also submit or contribute to forum suggestions. We'd like to offer the following advice, however:
- MLO/YMAPs from external developers are often difficult to implement and require a significant time investment from our developers. We are blessed to have our very own in-house map editor, who will be implementing any map edits going forward.
- Think about the roleplay value of your suggestion as well as how many people it will impact.
- Even if a suggestion isn't marked under review or implemented, it often will influence internal discussion more than you might realize.
- And lastly, please be kind. As mentioned, our development team are mighty and talented - but it is small and RedM (unlike FiveM) is a platform that has far less documentation and resources available for scripting.
In Conclusion
2025 proved what consistent effort can accomplish. 2026 is about continuing to build on Wild West RP's features in a way that makes roleplay shine, the world feel alive, reactive and worth investing your time in. Thank you for riding with us.Question & Answer Section!
