  • Description

The Four Horsemen Saloon is one of the many establishments to take up the Bastille for its own.

It prides itself on spirits, ales, cocktails, excellent service, and a completely fair Blackjack dealer (as long as you keep an eye on those sleeves). It sits in the heart of Saint Denis with many regulars and events. The bar uses an Art Nouveau aesthetic in advertising inspired primarily by Gustav Klimt.

    Business Hours

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen Saloon's normal operating hours are every monday, wednesday, and friday from 3PM EST/EDT to 5PM EST/EDT. It will also sometimes open on week-ends.

    Regular Events

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ There are a few regular events taking place at the saloon.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "Fite Nite" (discontinued)
At the beginning of the evening, a fist fighting competition would take place. The winner would be either given a customized weapon or a sum of money.
At the end of the evening, a free for all brawl would take place inside the saloon.
This event was discontinued following the death of Timothy Langston.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "Beggars and Tellers Night"
Customers would share an interesting story and be given a free drink. It doesn't matter if the story is real or not as long as it is entertaining. A game of devil's dice would then happen and the winner would receive a customized weapon.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "Impersonation Night"
The concept of impersonation is for customers to come dressed as someone else and receive a free drink if the bartender guesses who they're dressed as.
During the first iteration, a few people came up dressed as Percy Kray, which lead to that first event being subsequently refered to as "I'm-Percy-Nation night".
During the second iteration, three people came dressed as Cosmo Kray and three others as Lars Stefan which lead to a team-based brawl outside the saloon opposing team Cosmo and team Lars. Team Cosmo won.
During the third iteration, almost every single attendee showed up dressed as Apollo Alovich except the man himself who came dressed as Lip Darmon. A brawl was organized to crown the best Apollo, which Lip won, being then dubbed "Lipollo".

    ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "Happy Hour"
By far the most common event, "happy hour" consists of offering a free drink for each order of any customer during the first hour of opening. The free drink will always be the same as the one ordered. It is completely not used as a way to expedite stock rotation for the saloon at all.

    Ice-Night.png
    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "Ice Night"
After several unsuccessful attempts at hiring someone to gather ice from Colter and deliver it to the saloon to serve in drinks, Lip Darmon finally managed to strike a bargain with Pioneer Overland Co and got a shipment of ice delivered in february 1902. In celebration, an "Ice Night" was organized where customers were encouraged to wear a scarf to receive free ice in their drink, "any drink". This of course spurred a few unscrupulous elements to order ice in non-ice-compliant drinks, including wine. This terrible aspect was balanced by the cathartic act of repeatedly bashing into a big chunk of ice with a hammer (having forgotten to buy an ice pick for the occasion), sending ice flying everywhere, and discovering the basics of shapes fitting into other shapes (more specifically how difficult it is to fit some ice in beer bottles).
The first event was a great success.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ "French Friday"
The latest project at the Four Horsemen. Every other friday, customers will be able to sample exclusive drinks directly imported from France as well as traditional dishes cooked by local New Alexandrian chefs. They will receive a discount if they attempt to order in French.
The first event took place on Friday 21st April 1902 and was a success. People were able to try frogs legs cooked in white wine, garlic, and pepper, for free, if they tried ordering in French. For this occasion all Four Horsemen personel went the extra mile and dressed in a French army inspired outfit complete with blue vest, red trousers, white chaps, and a black flatcap of course.
The best iteration of French Friday happened on Friday July 14th, or "Bastille Day" as the americans call it. It was the most successful event the saloon had ever seen. It was fully packed all night. Entertainment for the night included : free unlimited wine and french food all night for all customers wearing red hats, fireworks and the french national anthem, two duets by Agatha Baumstumpf and Lip Darmon, a Chopin piece by Maverick Calloway, and a quizz fully in french. It trully lived up to its name.

    Other Businesses and Ventures

On top of the saloon in Saint Denis, the Four Horsemen acts sort of like a brand and takes on other ventures lending them either its name or guidance, or sometimes even both.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Summerhouse (discontinued)
The Summerhouse was a project formulated by Cosmo Kray to open a herbalist and herbal remedies shop out of the glass house in the north of Saint Denis. Opening day was a disaster due to Lip being kidnapped and the project ultimately fell through.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Crazy Horse Diner (discontinued)
The Crazy Horse Diner is an upscale restaurant that operates out of the seafood restaurant on St Nicholas Street in Saint Denis. It was founded by Lars Stefan in 1901 and focuses on premium service to charge premium prices.
Customers would be greeted by a Maître d'Hôtel and seated either inside or on the balcony. They would be served high quality drinks and specialty dishes, delivered by very smartly dressed staff.
The restaurant would prove to be extremely lucrative when opened for special events, considerably less so when opening on a regular schedule.
The ownership of the restaurant was passed on to Brath Macwell at the same time as the saloon ownership was passed on to Lip Darmon.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen After Hours (discontinued)
The Four Horsemen After Hours, also refered to as the "second shift" is a venture first started with Boyd Langston to open the Four Horsemen Saloon during later hours for people going by the EST hours. First called "Boyd's bar", a name Cosmo didn't find particularly appealing, it was then decided that it would take on the Four Horsemen Saloon name fully. Its managership was de-facto passed on to Javier DeLaCruz who lead it until it was shut down.
    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Red Lotus (discontinued)
A project by Boyd Langston, it was decided in common between Boyd and Lip that the project would be better pursued outside of the Four Horsemen brand. The two men remain in good terms even after they went their separate ways.
    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen Auction (discontinued)
The Four Horsemen Auction House was a venture driven by Lars Stefan after his return from Europe to operate a legitimate auction house out of the Saint Denis Théâtre Râleur, every saturday at 5pm EST.
The types of lots sold at the auction varied in kind and value, from horses to customized weapons, tools, bulk food, and everything in between. The concept of "mystery boxes" brought forward by Lars where a sealed box was to be sold as is without the buyer knowing its contents would prove to be extremely intriguing to customers, and thus very lucrative to the auction master. Some were unreasonably lucky in their box acquisitions, others... Less so.
Every iteration of The Four Horsemen Auction has had positive reception by its attendees.
The Four Horsemen Auction was, as of april 3rd 1902, a licensed business.
    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen Distillery & Imports (discontinued)
One of the Four Horsemen venture branches was a distillery and imports business lead by Jacco Vinke that specialised in top shelf quality brandy and european imports of wine. "T.S." Brandy meant "top shelf", the name coming from the usual order of Percy Kray when he attended the saloon : "Give me Brandy, Lip. Top shelf."
The Four Horsemen Distillery & Imports was, as of march 30th 1902, a licensed business. It was discontinued following the resignation of Jacco Vinke from employment at the Four Horsemen.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Wolfe & Rabbit Herbal Shoppe (in association with The Four Horsemen) (ongoing)
Spearheaded by Echo Wolfe, the Four Horsemen Wolfe & Rabbit Herbal Shoppe (or W & E for short) is an endeavour first started in december 1901. The business focuses on providing easy access to herbs through affordable prices and the possibility of delivery / meeting up.
The owner decided to become a subsidiary of the Four Horsemen in april 1902 after being an employee of the saloon for a long time.
Wolfe & Rabbit Herbal Shoppe has been a licensed business on its own since december 9th 1901.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Horsemen Art Collective (ongoing)
Sonny Harris wanting to find an excuse to outrank (or equal) Jacco Vinke, he decided to start his own Four Horsemen subsidiary as a means to achieve the rank of manager and to focus more on his painting.

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Kelpie Casting (in association with the Four Horsemen) (ongoing)
In his neverending quest to achieve everything fish-related, Brath Macwell decided to start his own subsidiary with a little help from the Four Horsemen. Kelpie Casting is a one-man operation for Mr Macwell to bring affordable fish to customers and offer them the possibility to tag along with him on fishing trips, learn all about fishing, and possibly even how fish do it.

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Witchery Cookery (in association with the Four Horsemen) (ongoing)
This venture, led by Agatha Baumstumpf, consists of a travelling shop selling curios, herbal tonics, teas, and rum-adjacent products. The decision to sell rum adjacent products came from Agatha's intricate knowledge of the process of producing and moving rum, as well as consuming unreasonable amounts of it.
As of october 4th 1902, Witchery Cookery is a licensed business.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen Security (ongoing)
This branch of the Four Horsemen brands consists entirely of its own in-house security. It is not a branch for hire for outside ventures but it will only ensure security at Four Horsemen normal operating hours (and events if another security firm can't be contracted). The branch is currently handled 50%/50% by Bram Donners and Rex Deckhart.
Due to legal reasons, as of october 20th 1902, the Four Horsemen Security is a licensed business.

    Partners and Affiliates

The Four Horsemen is also involved in a lot of other Businesses and charities without them being directly under the Four Horsemen brand.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Olive Branch Foundation (discontinued)
First started by John Galows, the Olive Branch is a charity that aims to reform criminals by setting them up with internships, classes, and Businesses, so they can reintegrate civilian life. The Four Horsemen is helping with financing and providing internships, lessons, and jobs to the beneficiaries.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Ensemble Theatre Troupe (discontinued)
Billy Chaucer performed his shows, monodramas, songs, and advertisements alike under his Ensemble Theatre company. The Four Horsemen was a proud sponsor of such events, funding salaries, expenses, rent, and living costs of all people involved in the artistic process.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Harrison Clockworks
A regular at the saloon, the owner of Harrison Clockworks provides services in clock repairs for the owner Lip Darmon.
The saloon's punctuality and regular schedule relying almost entirely on a half broken old watch, and it almost constantly needing repairs pushed Lip to make regular use of Harrison Clockworks' services. As a means to show gratitude for excellent work, the saloon has put out an official endorsement of their business.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎BMD Entertainment (discontinued)
This entertainment company spurred on by Nathan Burke and affiliates promotes very different kinds of events like boxing matches, horses races, etc. The Four Horsemen is bringing as much of its support as it can in the form of lending out Lip's limited skills in public speaking, or even just serving drinks.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Shadow Firm (discontinued)
The famous security company is regularly employed by the Four Horsemen for many of their ventures. They provide regular security services during normal opening hours at the saloon as well as at the Auction and other events such as French Friday.
Their business relationship was off to a rocky start back when the Firm first started but it has grown steadily more solid over the months. Now, the saloon makes very regular use of their reliable services.
As a token of appreciation for their continued excellent work, the Four Horsemen Saloon has started putting out an official endorsement of their business on public telegrams when the saloon doesn't open or when it employs them for a specific day.

    Providers

The ultimate endgoal for the Four Horsemen is to have a different provider for each product on menu. As such, this list is non exhaustive and ever expanding.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Ramona's Roast
The Four Horsemen has been making semi-regular use of Ramona's Roast's services in catering for a while ; first at the Crazy Horse Diner restaurant, then as the main provider of traditional french dishes during French Friday.
Every French Friday, Ramona's Roast provides a different item on menu with research to back it up. With the amount of work that goes into such process, the Four Horsemen decided to officially endorse the business as a partner every single French Friday where one of their delicious meals figures on the menu.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Pioneer Overland (discontinued)
The delivery company used to be the main provider of ice for ice night at the Four Horsemen.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Premium Blends Distillery
The main provider of alcohol for the saloon.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Russki Brewski
They provide their famous vodka for the more daring drinkers who don't care about losing a few eyebrows hairs.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Black Rose Irish Whiskey
The Four Horsemen Saloon is extremely proud to have the famous Black Rose Triple-Distilled Irish Whiskey and its premium variant the Reserve on its menu, in accordance with a contract passed between the saloon and the distillery.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Ice Company
The Fowler-owned and operated transport company is the new provider of ice for the saloon.

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Lily's Ranch
Through Lily's Ranch, the Four Horsemen Saloon gets a weekly delivery of milk to put in coffees and teas (as well as a bonus for one of their employees).

    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Four Horsemen Distillery & Imports (discontinued)
While technically a subsidiary of the Four Horsemen Saloon, the D&I branch provides imported wines and their famous T.S. Apple Brandy to the saloon as if they were just any other provider. The saloon owner refuses categorically to be treated differently from any other customer and pays the fair price for products so as not to destabilize the market.

    Employees

With Cosmo's tendency to hire just about everyone he came across and Lip's fierce conviction that people always deserve second chances, a lot of people are and have been employed at the Four Horsemen.

    History

Operating out of the Bastille saloon in Saint Denis, the Four Horsemen has a long and complex story intertwined with that of The Krays - especially its former owner Cosmo Kray, now known as Sonny Harris - as well as the story of the city itself.

    The Cotton Season
The Horsemen was initially founded in summer 1901 by then Cosmo Kray, now known as Sonny Harris, and served as the primary hideout and business of The Krays for a time.
Originally offered to the boy as an incentive to join with them, it soon took on a life of its own evolving from a gang front, to a legitimate business. Within a few weeks of operation Cosmo took two employees under his wing- Lip Darmon and Jacco Vinke. The former who would go on to become the owner of the establishment.

    The Krays Days
During the Kray's occupation it ran very inconsistently and offen under threat of attack, many bullet holes still reside in the walls from this period. After their disbandment the Horsemen grew from a single saloon to a branch of Businesses financed and maintained under Cosmo. The Langston Saloon ran by Boyd, the Old Light ran by Javier, and the Crazy Horse Diner ran by Lars Stefan were assimilated into the company- financing further growth.
Eventually as the health of the former owner deteriorated, it was handed over to Lip Darmon to run and preserve in order to support the numerous employees and supplies it had gathered. Slowly taking on a new reputation and breaking away from the dark name of The Krays. After a while Cosmo would leave entirely- taking Lars with him.

    The Darmon Generation
After Cosmo's departure, the saloon was entrusted to Lip Darmon who took it upon himself to attempt to clean up its reputation and make it a completely gang-free business. With the help of the many Horsemen, the nickname given by Cosmo to those working at the saloon, it becoming some kind of neutral ground for criminals and law enforcement alike (as well as everyone in between) to come and have a drink, a chat, and enjoy a nice game of blackjack with a very trustworthy dealer.
    ‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The Partner Chapter
Now strongly implemented as a staple of Saint Denis civilian life, the Four Horsemen expanded into several branches and became a conglomerate of sorts, making use of the famous name to launch employee's personal ventures and give them a headstart in finances, guidance, and organization.
Sonny's return would only reinforce Lip's resolve to take the Four Horsemen brand identity to heart. He would spend unreasonable amounts of time and energy ensuring the brand's integrity, navigating through trouble but always keeping true to his golden rule : never getting the brand involved in any criminal activities.
